If you've lost your Ugandan National ID, you can apply for a replacement through the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA). Follow the steps below to complete the process.
Steps to Replace a Lost National ID
- Go to the nearest NIRA district office.
- Fill in the ID replacement form (available at the office or downloadable from the NIRA website).
- Pay the replacement fee at a designated bank and get a payment slip.
- Submit your completed form, payment slip, and a police letter reporting the lost ID.
- Get an acknowledgment receipt and wait for the replacement ID to be issued.

Processing Time
Processing can take several weeks depending on volume. You will be notified via SMS when your ID is ready for pickup.
